In Part 1 we talked about some things that PET manufacturers use to make their products more attractive to consumers. After all, proteins must cover Most dog food, right? We do not want all charges nasty carbs us? Should we?
Nutrition Common sense
If you think about it, Doga supply must be equal to 100%. Five nutrients to be taken into consideration for (except water): protein, fats, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins.
According to nutritionists, veterinarians accredited the average adult castrated dog house only needs about 20% protein, 15% fat, and all the necessary vitamins and minerals can be integrated to 5% of the diet. So what is the remaining 60%?
It only makes sense if the power is properly formulated and exactly with the list reflects the relative weight of the ingredients from carbohydrates low in calories should represent balance diet. Therefore, the list should have a grain as the first ingredient.
Rebecca Rémillard, Ph.D., DVM, certified veterinary nutritionist and personal dietitian at Angell Memorial in Boston, MA, USA, an "If a system has adequate protein-calorie ratio and is formulated for the average adult dog, the origin meat would not be the first to List. "
However, many so-called food experts company will try to say that carbohydrates are no more than garbage. Although no minimum dietary requirements of carbohydrate in pet food, the organization has a minimum requirement of glucose to provide energy for vital organs such as brain. Moreover, most of the cells to use glucose primary fuel source.
Have you ever seen an animal or a person who is hypoglycemic (lack of glucose)? Scary!
This may come from glucose from protein or fat. However, the liver must manufacture of glucose from these sources to remove nitrogen. Carbohydrates Dona't containing nitrogen and the need Dona't be metabolized by the liver and excreted by the kidneys. This makes the carbohydrates in an extremely important source energy, as they allow an a priori body to make less work.
According to Dr. RĂ©millard, "some pet foods contain carbohydrates little or nothing, but overfeeding of protein and fat. Would most likely not a problem for wild dog or cat is not expected to live beyond the 2-3 years old. I suggest this is not the ideal system when your pet is expected to live 10-20 years. It's much like people smoking – the effects are rarely observed before 20 or 30 years – looks good at first.
I find it interesting, when pet owners are concerned about the significant fraction of foods rich carbohydrate as a pet, but think of the fruit and vegetable diet is more "healthy" and / or "natural". These same owners of animals not realize that vegetables and fruits are mainly composed of water and carbohydrates as sugar, starch and fiber. You can not leave these carbohydrates.
Okay – no need to avoid foods for pets just because they have a carbohydrate listed as first ingredient.
Also note that the list of ingredients, in general, can not and should not be used as a means to evaluate the "quality" of a food. There are simply too Factors to be considered. I just wish it were that simple. While the list of ingredients may be useful it has certain weaknesses that limit its useful assess the nutritional value of foods for pets.
For better or for worse, the consumer must rely on reputation or word of the manufacturer to assess the nutritional value and safety of the ingredients listed. If you have questions about your pet food may have on the phone. All you have to do is see a short list of ingredients in the past to find the toll fees.
They await your call!

Baby Sleep $9.99 I think this music is intended for adults, though the photo on the cover is of a sleeping baby. In any event, Schumann’s work, Scenes From Childhood, Op. 15, featured here is more likely to bolt you out of bed than put you to sleep, as the mike is far too close to the piano being played by Cyprien Katsaris. Purcell’s Adagio from The Indian Queen is magnificent, performed by John Elliott Gardin… |
