- Lighting is only recommended for aquarium fish: Standard or systems compact fluorescent. They use a minimum of 2.3 watts per gallon of water per tank.
- Freshwater Aquarium Planted: Standard T-5HO fluorescent, compact Power, Metal Halide / HQI. These have a minimum of 4 watts per gallon, a higher ratio is better.
- For the reef aquarium Marine: T-5 HO, VHO, Power Compact, Metal Halide / HQI. The reef aquariums require a minimum of 4.6 watts per gallon, and if the tank contains corals, sea anemones and clams, then the increase of 8.12 watts or more per gallon
It is important that you know Kelvin power use:
- For fish, you need 5,500 K to 20,000 K depending on the species. Actinic require deeper reservoirs.
- For plants to be 6500 K to 18,000 K.
- Coral will be at 9000 K to 20,000 K with actin.
Many enthusiasts recommend 10,000 K. They say they are the safest option. These lights provide excellent sharpness, bright white, which seems incredible.
